Airport parking prices changed

The 15-minute free parking for people dropping off or collecting passengers at Norwich Airport has been cut to just five minutes, the Norwich Evening News reports. But the airport has defended the move, saying the price of longer stays has been cut.
Concerns were raised when the 15-minute grace period at the airport was scrapped without warning by car park operator NCP last week, leading to complaints from passengers forced to pay £1.90 for just minutes spent in the car park. The change was overturned the next day following the intervention of airport managing director Richard Jenner, but the relief for travellers was short lived.
At a meeting between the airport and parking bosses late last week, an overhaul of the charging system was agreed. Under the new rules, parking will be free for the first 5 minutes, with motorists staying between 5 and 15 minutes charged 50p. Drivers staying for longer periods will be charged £1.50, rather than £1.90 previously. The new regime is expected to be introduced at the beginning of February - later this week.
Norwich Airport managing director Richard Jenner said the new system was a fair solution for all concerned. He told the newspaper: 'We feel that it is a just result for everyone and I hope people will see this as a fair charge. 5 minutes is the same period used by lots of other airports and we feel it is ample time to drive in and offload. Hopefully everyone will agree. And 50p [for up to 15 minutes] is not an extortionate amount.'
