New business aviation building planned
21.05.10
A £6m business aviation centre is planned for Norwich Airport. Aircraft charter company SaxonAir plans to build the centre to provide better facilities for its passengers, as well as more administration space to allow it to grow in the future.
The company flies executives, celebrities and pop stars around the UK and Europe. The three-storey building will go between two new aircraft hangers already under construction and will bring together all of its operations at the airport. It is currently in temporary buildings, which will be removed when the new building is finished.
The development will house the company's fleet of five fixed-wing planes plus helicopters. The ground floor will have a passenger reception area and VIP passenger lounge for SaxonAir's private jet fleet, which can also cater for other private and business flights into the airport.
The first floor will house new offices for SaxonAir's flight operations and support staff, with facilities for flight crews and air crew training rooms. The second floor is likely to be leased by another company at the airport, at least in the short term, but offers space for the company to grow.
