Holiday flight passengers suffer 19 hour delay
07.06.09
Holidaymakers suffered a 'flight nightmare’ after being forced to travel by bus from Norwich Airport to Luton late Friday night to catch a plane to Corfu - which then did not take off, leaving them stranded at that airport overnight and facing a 19 hour delay, the Evening news reports.
Passengers started checking in at Norwich Airport at about 13:00 on Friday for the 16:05 Thomson flight to Corfu, and were told there would be a slight delay. At 20:00 they were still waiting at the airport with no sign of the flight, and at about 23:00, over 8 hours after arriving at airport, three double decker buses and a coach arrived to ferry them to Luton Airport.
However, when the passengers arrived at Luton they were kept waiting until 04:00, when they were finally told the flight would not be leaving until 11:00 yesterday morning. They were put up in a hotel for a couple of hours, before returning to Luton Airport for the flight to eventually take off 19 hours late.
