Spanish budget airline LTE fails
18.10.08
Spanish budget airline LTE International, which operated flights from Norwich Airport, became the latest victim of the global financial turmoil yesterday when it suspended all flights because of ‘world events’.
LTE is based in Palma, Majorca and operates flights between Spain and Britain, as well as Italy and the Middle East. The airline said in a statement: ‘Due to the financial situation of the company, it (is) difficult to meet the operational expenses. After 20 years operating with dedication to our clients it just was not possible to avoid this situation given world events.’
LTE, which operated weekly flights from Norwich to Barcelona, Alicante and Palma, is the fourth Spanish airline to stop flying in recent weeks, adding its name to a global list of more than two dozen airlines that have failed this year, including Zoom, Silverjet and XL Airways.
