KLM Engineering to check BA planes
07.09.08
British Airways has awarded a £1.5 million contract to Norwich Airport based KLM UK Engineering to perform end of lease checks on four of the its planes, the Eastern Daily Press reports. Four of BAs Boeing 737-500 aircraft will go through stringent checks at KLM Engineering's centre at the airport.
Maintenance checks are required to show that the planes are in an acceptable condition when airlines return them to their owners at the end of their lease. KLM Engineering said the deal is a sign it is ‘recognised as one of the leading aircraft maintenance facilities in Europe’.
BA awarded the contract after a tender process that included an audit of facilities at Norwich Airport. A spokesman said: ‘BA is an airline with exacting standards and associates itself with like-minded organisations. KLM Engineering take great pride in this.’
