Council to investigate Norwich Airport night flights
02.04.06
An investigation is to be launched into alleged illegal night flights at Norwich airport. City council planning officials are to examine whether the airport is breaching planning restrictions by allowing aircraft to fly after 23:00.
The issue was raised at a meeting of Norwich City Council last week after the authority's scrutiny committee had considered the complaints. The authority resolved that officers draw up a report on the matter, which will eventually go before the council's planning committee. If the airport is in breach of planning regulations, they will then consider what form the enforcement action would take.
The agreement between Norwich airport and the local authorities states there should be no flights between 23:00 and 06:00. However, it is unclear whether those restrictions relate to just the use of terminal buildings, rather than flights.
