Airport confident that it can replace axed routes

Bosses at Norwich Airport are hopeful that they can persuade another airline to operate flights on two routes to Spain recently axed by budget airline Flybe, the Norwich Evening News reports. However, they are unlikely to be replaced in time for this winter.
Last month Flybe announced it was withdrawing flights from Norwich to Malaga and Alicante this winter, blaming the airport's £3 development fee for hitting demand for ticket sales. The reason for the decision was hotly disputed by airport managing director Richard Jenner.
Mr. Jenner has told the newspaper that the airport is making good progress persuading an alternative airline to operate the routes, with negotiations with two potential airlines under way. However, he admitted any flights were unlikely to launch from November when Flybe pulls out.
He said: 'These things take time and we accept that we may not get it before the end of February or beginning of March, but we are committed to getting the routes up and running.'
